A memory technique that schedules reviews at spaced intervals. You see difficult cards more often and easy cards less often, so each card comes back close to when you would forget it.
Is Swiftflip free?
Yes. Unlimited decks and cards, spaced repetition, imports and exports are free. Premium adds Smart Decks, Folders, custom icons, more reveal styles, AI generation and full Insights.
How do subscriptions work?
Premium is available as monthly, yearly or one-time lifetime through the App Store. Manage or cancel from Settings. If a subscription ends you keep all your decks and cards, but Smart Decks, Folders, AI generation, custom icons and full Insights pause until you resubscribe.
What platforms are supported?
iPhone (iOS 26+), iPad (iPadOS 26+), Mac (macOS 26+) and Apple Watch (watchOS 26+). iCloud keeps everything in sync across devices.
Do I need an account?
No. Open the app and start. Your Apple ID handles sync through iCloud.
Can I import from Anki or other apps?
Yes. Import .apkg files from Anki or CSV files from other apps. Images, formatting, deck structure and review progress are preserved when Anki's data is complete.
Can I export my data?
Yes. Export to standard formats anytime. Import your exports into other apps or back into Swiftflip. No lock-in.
What data leaves the device?
Decks and progress stay on your devices and in your private iCloud. We do not run an account system. Cloud AI, the optional Premium card generator, sends card text to our servers and on to OpenAI. Swiftflip asks before the first request. We do not store the card text. The privacy policy describes what Cloud AI sends and what we keep.

A Practice Due Cards control, a Deck widget, a picture and a recording on either side of a card, and Upcoming and Activity in Insights.
- Controls: start practicing due cards from Control Center, and on iPhone from the Lock Screen or the Action button.
- Widgets: a Deck widget practices one deck you choose. It fits the Home Screen and Lock Screen on iPhone and iPad and the desktop on Mac.
- Cards: a side can hold text, a picture and a recording together. The card list marks a side that has a recording.
- Cards: format text from a bar above the keyboard on iPhone and iPad. On iPad, Bold, Italic and Underline also apply at the insertion point.
- Insights: Premium adds an Upcoming card that shows how many cards come due in the coming days, and an Activity calendar that shows every day you practiced. Each Insights card keeps its own period.
- Import: open Anki and CSV files from the Files app on iPhone and iPad, follow an import's progress and stop it with Cancel.
- Import: a CSV file without a header row keeps its first row as a card. Anki audio in Ogg format and SVG images are converted where the system can.
- Practice: undo the answer to a card that came back after a miss. Grades are kept when the app quits mid-session, and a session's length counts only active time.
- Generate Cards: Stop in the Live Activity stops generation, and new cards appear at an even pace.
- Performance: faster card lists, deck pages and Spotlight updates, and due counts for widgets and reminders off the main thread.
