Some days you want the schedule. Other days you want twenty cards from two decks, shuffled, before tomorrow’s exam. Swiftflip’s Custom Practice builds that session in one sheet on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
One sheet, every option
- Decks: pick any set of decks, or start from a Smart Deck
- Due Cards Only: limit the session to new cards and cards ready for review
- First Side: Front → Back, Back → Front or random per card
- Session Size: how many cards the sitting includes
- Card Order: newest first, oldest first or shuffled
- Study Focus: Balanced, More New or More Review
- Repeat Incorrect Cards: bring missed cards back during the same session
Swiftflip shows how many cards match before you start, and it remembers your choices for next time.
Scheduled session or drill
Keep Due Cards Only on and the session follows your spaced-repetition schedule: the cards that are ready appear and each grade updates the next review. Turn it off to drill every matching card instead. A drill leaves due dates unchanged, so cramming before an exam does not distort the long-term schedule.
When to reach for it
- The night before a test: two decks, shuffled, missed cards return.
- A short commute: due cards only, session size set to what the ride allows.
- A deck that fights back: More Review, back side first, until it stops fighting.
It works with the rest of Swiftflip
Custom Practice respects Review Both Directions: the First Side option resolves each card’s direction before the session starts. A running session carries across Handoff exactly as configured, and the defaults come from the same Settings your normal practice uses.
