Use Handoff to continue practice across devices
Start a Swiftflip session on iPhone and pick it up on iPad or Mac without losing your place.
Swiftflip uses Handoff to continue a practice session between iPhone, iPad and Mac. Cards you have already graded carry over and the session resumes where you left off.
The system Handoff icon appears in the iPad Dock or in the Mac Dock.

What you need
Handoff works when:
- both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account
- both devices are nearby, with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on
- Handoff is enabled on both devices
- Swiftflip is installed on both devices
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, General, then AirPlay & Continuity or AirPlay & Handoff. On Mac, open System Settings, General, then AirDrop & Continuity or AirDrop & Handoff. Enable Handoff on each device. See Apple’s Handoff setup instructions for the current system labels.
Start a session, switch devices
- Open Swiftflip on iPhone and tap Practice on a deck
- Grade a few cards
- Pick up your iPad or move to your Mac
- The Swiftflip Handoff icon appears in the Mac Dock, in the iPad Dock or at the bottom of the iPhone App Switcher
- Click or tap the icon and the session resumes with your progress intact
The cards you graded before switching are not asked again. The schedule, accuracy and grade history carry over too.
Use cases that work well
- start a session on iPhone during a commute, finish it on iPad at home
- begin practice on Mac while editing decks, switch to iPhone when you walk out
What Handoff does not do
Handoff only resumes sessions. Editing decks, importing files and changing settings happen on whichever device you have in front of you, and iCloud sync carries the changes.
If a session does not appear on the other device, check that both have Handoff turned on, both are on the same Apple Account and both are awake. Keep the session open on the source device and give the system time to offer it on the destination.
