Otherdesk 1.3 syncs your Macs with iCloud

Saved Macs sync between iPhone and iPad, a Mac can be added by address alone and sessions keep reconnecting through brief network changes.

Your Macs on iPhone and iPad

Macs you add sync through your private iCloud database, so they are ready on your other iPhone or iPad. Saved user names and passwords sync separately through iCloud Keychain when it is available. A device passcode is still required to save a password.

Display and pointer settings stay on each device.

Add a Mac with less

Add a Mac with only its address. Leave the user name or password blank to enter it each time you connect.

Add Mac keeps showing that it is searching after the first Mac is found. A nearby Mac that is already saved opens instead of being added twice. Enter Address is now labelled as the way to add a Mac on another network or behind a VPN.

Steadier sessions

Sessions keep reconnecting through brief network and name-lookup failures without asking for credentials again, and say why they are waiting. A frozen screen recovers automatically and refreshes when you return to the app.

When the Mac refuses a sign-in, Otherdesk asks for the user name and password again.

Settings and the Macs list

Settings opens in a sheet with display, pointer and two-finger drag preferences and a Send Feedback link. On iPad, Add Mac and Settings are in the menu bar. Changes to the Macs list are animated, and saved computers are called Macs throughout.

Otherdesk connects to a Mac with Screen Sharing enabled, on the same local network or over a VPN.
