FAQ

Common questions about Zorta.

What file types does Zorta support?
PDFs, images (PNG, JPG, HEIC, TIFF), and other document types. Text is extracted using on-device OCR for images and native parsing for PDFs.
Does Zorta send my documents to a server?
No. All processing uses Apple's on-device Natural Language and Create ML frameworks. Documents never leave your Mac.
Can Zorta create new folders?
Yes. Enable smart folder creation for low-confidence matches. Useful when new document types don't fit existing categories.
What happens when files conflict?
You choose: keep both (rename the new file), replace the existing file, or skip. Duplicate detection uses content hashing.
What Mac is required?
macOS 26 (Tahoe) or later on Apple Silicon (M1 chip or newer). Recommended: 8 GB RAM or more.
